Over time, it became apparent that the hostile entity was evolving into stronger versions, and with new manifestations of evil, new signals appeared containing increasingly complex production plans.
Although a classification of signals was introduced based on their complexity and frequency, the origin of these signals remained unknown. Humanity gradually gained new knowledge, or rather rediscovered lost knowledge, and refused to submit to unknown entities at its doorstep.
The situation culminated on the day of contact with an entity far from the center of the Solar System. This entity was capable of producing other entities, and it itself was larger than human settlements. It was named after the biblical monster – Leviathan.
The communication systems of ships venturing into the distant cosmos, away from the disruptive radio noise of cosmic bodies, recorded strange "signals".
After careful analysis, it was found that these signals originated from areas where no obvious source of emission was detected upon closer inspection. These signals appear and, after several dozen hours, disappear without explanation.
The content of these signals contains information about human technology that had been forgotten on Earth. They include complete production plans, circuit diagrams, and user manuals.
The locations where these signals originate soon became sought after for their acquisition and use by corporations. Unfortunately, humans did not bring the technologies from Earth that would allow them to effectively work with the data, and magnetic media degrade quickly in the space environment. Copying and constant reading during production and transportation damages the data, making it quickly unusable.
The first contact with an unknown entity, now commonly referred to as Evil, took place on the now-nonexistent station orbiting Mars. An unknown organism was found on the station’s hull, penetrated its shell, and infected the inhabitants with a terrible disease. Although the similarity to Disease X, which had ravaged Earth during the final stages of the war, seemed terrifying, the disease manifested somewhat differently, transforming humans and all organic life into something... inhuman.
In fear of spreading the disease, the station was completely destroyed, along with everything in it. It didn’t take long before every larger station reported contact with a similar organism. However, this time, humans were better prepared, and they managed to stop it before it could penetrate the station’s hull. Further contacts followed.
There are many theories* about what these entities are and where they come from, but none of them have been conclusively proven.
*) Prion theory, Theory of DestinyAfter the war, now known as the "last" war, Earth was no longer able to sustain life.
With the help of breakthroughs from the early 1980s, a small handful of survivors permanently left Earth. Humanity is no longer counted in billions, but in tens of thousands. They inhabit space stations around Earth and nearby planets, gradually venturing deeper into the cosmos.
Science and technological development, however, are in decline. The small groups of survivors lack the capacity to secure sufficient production or even the development of new technologies. Society is left to fend for itself in the inhospitable environment of space, leading to dystopia.
The remnants of civilization have occupied stations with larger populations, but the constant threat of attacks by Evil, piracy, common crime, and the general shortage of almost everything are factors shaping the current state.
People no longer divide according to nationality. Those who have managed to settle are divided into two main directions. Some societies are dominated by the belief in the Cult, its practices, and its spiritual authorities. The opposite are places where scientific approaches and critical thinking prevail. These are the seats of Humanity. Secular power is held by the structure of hyper-corporations, which tries to use every means in the competitive struggle for control of the remnants of the world.
Global conflicts escalate into an uncontrollable phase. At this time, everyone understands that a civilized society built on dazzling technology and the economy of infinite growth was nothing but an illusion, and the price for this blindness will be terrible.
The first corporations achieve space technology. It is no longer known how this sudden technological leap forward was enabled. Astronomical and particularly radiological observatories become the main actors in research. The largest of them, a militant organization operating the Arecibo observatory, patents several key technologies enabling long-term survival in space. Many other companies follow with similar or strikingly similar research results.
Former corporations, as they were known, become organizations with their own structure and their own enforcement of laws. With the transfer of power over life and death from the governments of the former nations to the hands of the corporations, the structure of society changes entirely. Each such corporation has its own laws, its own rules, and governs its own territory. These entities are now referred to as hyper-corporations.
The most successful of them, if one can call it that, is the Cult. Due to its spread since the early modern era and infiltration into all places showing any sign of power even before the hyper-corporation boom, this step became very apparent.
The revelation of the Cult at the end of the 20th century was one of the greatest wake-up calls for the humanist-based inhabitants of Earth.
Due to the overwhelming speed of technological development, particularly with the use of electronics, people are blinded by the light of devices and completely isolated from the existence of Evil. They convince themselves that it is merely a relic of the past and everything can be explained rationally. Humanity reaches its peak, calling itself a "civilized society".
Conflicts, always present, become global due to technology. The difference now is that humanity has the ability, thanks to rapid technological advances, to annihilate itself.
The Cult becomes a shadow organization, and for the average person, its existence is considered a conspiracy theory. As part of its attempt to regain power, it transforms into organized crime. Over the following decades, it will be discovered that societal structures such as mafias, dictatorships, and oligarchies are manifestations of the Cult.
Faith recedes into the background, being displaced by science. The scientific approach becomes popular mainly because it delivers results. Evil is pushed back through medical practices, with the infected considered insane. The first institutions are created, and the first efforts to separate them from the rest of society begin. The church´s failure to recognize manifestations of Evil as diseases and therefore not treat them is seen as the root cause of spreading Evil. Humanity resonates throughout society as never before and is seen as a key element in the fight against Evil.
The Cult is suppressed, and there is no place for it in modern society. Its members are persecuted. Divided into many secret societies, it is fully separated from the churches and conducts its own secret rituals. Yet, it continues to attract new members, especially those seeking power. The Cult slowly infiltrates the most influential places in society.
The fight against evil enters a new phase, with the rise of exorcism and the Inquisition. The Cult now controls most religious organizations, manipulates rulers, and through intrigue, dominates the world.
Scientific approaches begin to polarize, and the scientific invention of "printing" quickly spreads throughout the population. What churches had done for centuries, printing could do in months. Science becomes a popular alternative to spirituality, and the Age of Enlightenment is born.
By this time, society has fully merged, and religious organizations are at the height of their power. There is no place on the planet without a religious faction holding immense influence and economic power, surpassing the rulers.
The first secret organizations emerge among other organizations, and it is believed that this is when the seeds of the society that will later control it were sown. Due to its lack of clear affiliation with the religions of the time and yet assimilation of all their elements, we now call it simply "Cult".
It is possible that Evil focused primarily on these societies due to their corruption, allowing it to control all of human society. The first written documents appear about the spread of Evil through diseases and possessions, as well as the domination of important church leaders. Exorcism is practiced all over the world.
From archaeological findings, we learn about the division of humanity into pragmatic and spiritually inclined parts of society. Rulers generally represented the secular part of society, using military and economic power to control many subjects. The spiritual, such as priests of temples, founded their own societies exempted from royal power. The most famous are the Egyptian temples dedicated to specific gods, or the temple at Delphi in Greece, where the cult of the Sybil priestesses, known for their ability to foresee the future, was highly sought after by rulers. The increasing influence of religious organizations over secular power becomes evident.
The cradle of our civilization, Mesopotamia, emerges. The first writing and the first written laws appear here.
Instead of hunting and gathering, agriculture becomes the primary source of food. According to archaeological evidence, humans develop the ability to communicate using a more complex language, plan sowing and harvesting, and thus inevitably begin measuring time.
The concept of Taş Tepeler, that people must have known all of this and much more thousands of years earlier, does not align with scientific evidence, and thus is excluded from it.
In the area now known as Taş Tepeler, the first human cities with stone sanctuaries exhibiting religious tendencies emerge.
On the columns of these sanctuaries, sculptures appear depicting human interactions with an unknown substance resembling a thick liquid. According to these depictions, the liquid was considered sacred and believed to cause a transformation of humans into a higher state of being.
